Repairers from Fiji, Singapore and New Zealand undertake Hybrid Electric and Battery Electricity training at MTA Training and Employment Centre

As the only facility which offers HEV & BEV training in this state, the short course and five day courses fill up quickly.

The short course is held over two nights and covers safety precautions when working with HEV/BEV systems, covers high voltage, isolation and vehicle shutdown procedures and provides an overview of  HEV/BEV systems. This course is ideal for crash repairers and dismantlers.

The five day HEV & BEV, Safety, Inspection and Servicing Course is designed specifically for mechanical repairers wanting to perform servicing, ancillary work or repairs on hybrids and electronic vehicles. It provides all the information you need to understand hybrid technology and the associated safe working practices.

If you can’t release your staff for training on the dates the courses are available, additional courses can be organised to train all of your staff, at a time convenient to you.

Earlier this year U-Pull-it arranged for 11 of their staff to complete the one day training course.  U-Pull-it is South Australia’s largest self-serve auto dismantler, wrecker and recycler, with over one million parts to choose from at their three huge locations.

“It was important for our staff to complete the HEV & BEV training, in order to prepare for the handling of End of Vehicle Life (EVL) of Hybrid cars,” Chris Goode, General Manager of U-Pull-it said.

“The level of information and understanding that the U-Pull-it staff received from the MTA have them perfectly placed to dismantle EVL Hybrid cars.” Chris said.

The relationship and respect built over the initial one-day HEV & BEV course between U-Pull-it and the MTA led to U-Pull-it staff also completing the Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology course.

“The U-Pull-it staff members were already qualified to deal with the dismantling of air-conditioners from vehicles, but they were so impressed with the level of professionalism we delivered in the HEV & BEV course that a refresher course in air-conditioning technology was arranged,” Stephen Richardson, MTA - HEV & BEV and Light Vehicle trainer said.

Repairers have come from interstate and overseas including New Zealand, Singapore and Fiji to undertake the HEV & BEV courses facilitated by the MTA.

Our July course has now been filled and an additional course has been scheduled for August to meet demand. To avoid disappointment click here to register.
