Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo 2017
The MTA will have a stand at this year’s Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo to be held in the Jubilee Pavilion at the Adelaide Showgrounds on May 26 and 27.
While it has been a number of years since the MTA attended the Expo, we believe the time is right to attend once again, as we continue our push to increase apprentice numbers, provide more opportunities for young people, and seek to combat the skills shortage in the automotive industry.
Alarmingly, over the last 4 years there has been a 40 per cent decrease in apprenticeship commencements. The significant drop in the numbers of South Australians undertaking an automotive apprenticeship coupled with the skills shortage is a worrying sign for the future of South Australia’s automotive industry.
More apprentices alone will not fix the skills shortage and we will keep working to find other solutions, including our lobbying of government. The Expo is one of the many ways the MTA is looking to encourage more apprentices into the automotive industry.
Entry to the Expo is free so there are no excuses not to attend for anyone interested in a new career. Click here
