The MTA has represented the local motor trade industry for over 80 years. We provide specialist information services for members, negotiate group buying power on a range of business and personal needs, lobby governments on legislative changes and threats to business... and much, much more.
The MTA represents over 1,200 member business sites, in South Australia, and has national representation via the Motor Trades Association of Australia. The MTA Group Training Scheme is the peak apprentice and training body for the industry and is a fantastic SA success story.
The Role
More businesses are being asked to contribute to Government enquiries, to defend their business activities before the onslaught of big business marketing tactics, pricing and trading control, government legislation, trade union demands, etc. No individual businessperson can be expected to mount a professional and effective presentation or campaign and put their point of view across at the many inquiries and still look after their business properly.
The MTA staff, led by its Executive Director, represents individual and all MTA members at major inquiries and, together with professional help, ensures that all political parties are made aware of members' viewpoints. Representation by the MTA ensures that member businesses have a voice in the regulation of their industry and the maintenance of acceptable professional standards in retailing. MTA's Industrial Department are the industry specialists keeping members informed of all current changes with Federal, State and WorkChoices award interpretation.
